About the Role
This position supports the Production or Packaging portion of the Pet Food business, focusing on maintaining plant operations and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Fills in for employees during breaks and absences while maintaining plant operation quality.
- Operates all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
- Records downtime, can loss, lot numbers, temperatures, and other report documentation.
- Ensures all areas are cleaned to standard and performs weekly sanitation.
- Participates as a team member in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices and attends team meetings.
- Fosters team cohesiveness on major issues and identifies areas lacking cohesiveness for resolution.
- Supports Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies) and communicates concerns or improvement ideas.
- Performs additional duties as necessary to support business objectives.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including walking up and down stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, and hair net.
- Background in manufacturing.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Strong communication skills and decision-making ability.
- Ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.
Qualifications
- May be required to obtain and maintain a company-issued forklift license.
- Military experience is valued and welcomed.
