Utility Production EM (Can Line 3): Sun-Tues 6:30am-6:30pm, Wed 6:30am-12:30pm

About the Role

This position supports the Production or Packaging portion of the Pet Food business, focusing on maintaining plant operations and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Fills in for employees during breaks and absences while maintaining plant operation quality.
• Operates all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
• Records downtime, can loss, lot numbers, temperatures, and other report documentation.
• Ensures all areas are cleaned to standard and performs weekly sanitation.
• Participates as a team member in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
• Coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices and attends team meetings.
• Fosters team cohesiveness on major issues and identifies areas lacking cohesiveness for resolution.
• Supports Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies) and communicates concerns or improvement ideas.
• Performs additional duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including walking up and down stairs.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, and hair net.
• Background in manufacturing.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Strong communication skills and decision-making ability.
• Ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.

Qualifications

• May be required to obtain and maintain a company-issued forklift license.
• Military experience is valued and welcomed.
