Utility Plant Operator/Trainee - Wastewater Treatment

About the role

The City of Waxahachie is seeking a Utility Plant Operator/Trainee to join their Utilities Department in Wastewater Treatment. The position is open until July 14, 2026, or sooner if filled.

Requirements

• Education, Training, And Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No experience necessary; however, preference may be given to applicants with field-related education, training, licensing, or exceeding the minimum qualifications for this position.
  • Must be able to read, write, and use math skills to work with complicated formulas, equipment, chemicals, etc. under all working conditions.
• Licenses and Certificates:
  • A valid State driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid class "D" license by the end of the 6-month orientation period.
  • Ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid class "C" water operator's license issued by the State of Texas within 18 months of employment.
