Wastewater Plant Operator Trainee

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks, necessary tests, and apply judgment based upon training and defined operations and maintenance practices related to the processing of wastewater at treatment facilities and/or pump stations.
• Do related work as required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Virginia Driver’s License.
• Must obtain a minimum Class 4 operators license within twenty-four (24) months of employment as a condition of successful job performance and continued employment.
• Must either possess a valid Class B Virginia Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes and N endorsements or be able to acquire said license within 12 months of employment.

Required Skills

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence legibly.
• Speak effectively to members of the organization and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Solve practical problems and troubleshoot systems.
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Operate small office equipment and computers for data entry.
• Ability to operate industry related tools and equipment.
