Utility Operator - MK Up

About the role

Responsible for safely running different types of table machines and equipment that sheets and processes extruded dough into products that meet customer specifications, while ensuring food defense and quality.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and changes over all equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Conducts pre-op inspections as required to ensure food safety and equipment readiness.
• Operates a variety of equipment, including extruders, sheeters, multi-rollers, molding systems, and conveyors. Adjusts speed, gap, weight, and stroke as needed.
• Dumps dough in hopper and ensures the extruder is feeding the line with the correct amount of dough.
• Controls piece weight and size, utilizes MLO.
• Fills flour and toppings hoppers.
• Keeps work area clean and in 6S order to comply with GMP and BRC food safety standards.
• Monitors equipment and reports problems to leadership.
• Maintains all required documentation.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• Communicates and works with all associates.
• Follows all GMP’s, food safety, and quality policies.
• Ensures compliance with food hygiene, food safety, and food defense standards.
• Reports all food safety incidents such as GMP violations, ingredient and product contamination, metal detector deficiencies, glass breakage, and pest harborage.
• Ensures compliance in food defense, food regulations, and product/process quality; provides coaching as needed.
• Records accurate and legible results on documentation.
• Provides adequate housekeeping at all times.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Basic math skills necessary.
• Medium to high degree of judgment required.
• Special certification may be required for use of forklift and chemicals.
• Knowledge, skills, and ability to operate computer programs as needed.

Physical Demands

• Moderate degree of physical activity on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
• Repetitive standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, grasping, climbing, reaching, and moving about the facility.
• Hearing ability to meet manufacturing facility safety requirements; works in high noise area and wears appropriate hearing protection.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Exposed to cold, heat, and humidity.
• Able to work a multi-shift environment.
