About the role
2nd Shift Utility Heavy Equipment Operator at the Red Bay Quarry in Red Bay, AL, reporting to the Plant Manager. The role involves operating a variety of heavy equipment to support safety, quality, and revenue generation in existing and growing operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment (Skid Steer, Wheel Loader, Dozer, and/or Excavator) and machinery.
- Perform daily pre- and post-inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as trained and directed by management.
- Operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency.
- Perform plant ground operations and maintenance as needed.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA/environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- 1+ years of experience operating a wheel loader is highly preferred.
- Previous quarry experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform safety and maintenance inspections throughout the day.
- Capable of demonstrating equipment and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Experience working with crushers, conveyors, and screens is preferred.
- Ability to understand basic safety and work instructions.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational, scheduling, and time management skills.
- Welding experience is helpful along with general maintenance and repair abilities.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation a plus but not required.
- Team player mentality.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions with exposure to dust, noise, heat, and cold.
Pay
Wages dependent on verifiable experience. $3.00 night shift differential.
Schedule
- 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 12:00 AM).
- Full-time/permanent position.
- Weekend work may be required.
