Utility Operator
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Sets up correct number of cartons on skids in the right configuration.
- Provides packaging line with necessary quantities of secondary packaging materials to maintain continuous operation.
- Completes assigned documentation accurately and promptly.
- Verifies and confirms the accuracy and readability of all case codes and dates during the shift.
- Follows HACCP and food safety principles, ensuring compliance with critical control points and preventive quality checkpoints.
- Reports food safety and quality issues and initiates appropriate actions.
- Adheres to all food safety guidelines, including GMP, allergen program, quality, HACCP, sanitation, and safety.
Requirements
- Minimum six months experience in a production capacity or related role in a manufacturing environment.
- Supervisory responsibilities: none.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and measurements.
- Basic reading and speaking skills in English.
- Manual dexterity to operate hand jacks and sufficient strength to lift up to 30 pounds intermittently.
- Possession of understanding of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures.
- Ability to use basic tools and make simple mechanical adjustments.
- Willingness to work in hot, humid, and noisy environments.
- Willingness to work independently with minimal instructions.
- Willingness to work some weekends and overtime as needed.
- Compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) procedures.
- Ability to record, communicate, and address out-of-control conditions.
- Read and understand basic flow charts.
- Wearing all required protective equipment.
- Compliance with all company policies and regulations regarding food and human safety.
- Physical demands: sitting 5%, walking 35%, standing 60%, stooping and bending 100%, fingering-computer keyboard 100%, hearing-ordinary conversation 100%, speaking-ordinary speech 100%, conveyor, elevator, and lift exposure 100%, compressed air and live steam lines exposure 100%.
