At Utz Quality Foods, we have expanded our Kings Mountain, NC manufacturing facility and are looking for a dedicated Utility II to join our team. The Utility II assists as backup in all production processes and positions by supporting the production areas, including operating equipment, sanitation, and stocking/consumption of inventory.
Schedule
Rotating schedule: Monday–Thursday and Monday–Wednesday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM. Must be able to work one weekend a month for End of Month Inventory.
Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for other Utilities, Operators, and/or co-workers as needed according to established requirements and procedures for assigned tasks.
- Operate touch screens and various pieces of production and data entry equipment required for operation of equipment in assigned area when filling in for operators.
- Move and place necessary materials to support production needs using forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Ensure the accurate consumption of materials from production to Inventory.
- Organize new inventory according to best practices; double-stacking is required.
- Ensure adherence to established safety standards and proactively communicate and address issues for the plant, supporting a zero-accident culture.
- Keep work area, machinery, and other equipment clean and well maintained.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and where applicable, address safety and equipment-related issues.
- Provide suggestions on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Work with management and fellow associates to ensure Food Safety programs are followed.
- Report food, office, or operational safety problems to a supervisor or manager for initiating action.
- Perform other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of company and department objectives.
Requirements
- Must be willing to learn operator jobs over a 3-month period from initial onboarding.
- Previous food experience required, including operating fryers or packaging equipment.
- Must have the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Must possess basic math skills.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools.
- Must follow all personal and food safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Must be team-oriented.
- Strong commitment to company values.
- Responsible for following all safety rules and working safely at all times.
- Responsible for reporting unsafe equipment and practices.
