About the Role
As a Utility team member, you will fill in for any position in the warehouse, including Clerk, Forklift Operator, Selector, Backhauler, and Porter. This role operates in a grocery warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from 50°F to 90°F.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accuracy of work and adherence to production and safety standards.
- Utilize pick sheets or technology (e.g., voice, scanner) to select product.
- Operate double walkie-rider or pallet jack to remove cases of product from storage racks, place them on pallets, and apply selection labels.
- Move pallets using an electric pallet jack or walkie-rider until full or order is complete, then transport to the shipping dock for delivery.
- Use proper wrapping techniques to ensure product safety and prevent damage; report any discrepancies in case quantity or description.
- Write store numbers on pallets (not required in all cases).
- Use a battery hoist and change batteries as necessary.
- Maintain a clean work area and complete equipment inspection forms.
- Perform duties of a Warehouse Clerk.
- Perform duties of a Forklift Operator, including:
- Maneuvering a Stand-Up Forklift to put away or retrieve up to twenty pallets per hour into warehouse racks up to 46 feet high.
- Manually lifting pallets into place.
- Manually stocking or picking cases of product into warehouse racks.
- Recording daily actions using a Radio Frequency Computer Terminal.
- Perform duties of a Selector, including:
- Selecting full-case grocery, perishable, or frozen items.
- Fitting items on a pallet, plastic wrapping them, and loading them onto a trailer.
- Perform duties of a Backhauler, including:
- Operating an electric pallet jack or clamp machine to transport pallets off inbound trucks.
- Compiling un-palletized products onto pallets.
- Perform duties of a Porter, including:
- Cleaning and maintaining warehouse aisles and product slots.
- Removing product from slots using a pallet jack, cleaning slots with supplies and an electric scrubber, and replacing product.
- Cleaning warehouse offices, employee break areas, and restrooms.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Ability to operate a pallet jack and other required materials handling equipment (MHE).
- Ability to operate a battery hoist.
- Commitment to working safely and maintaining satisfactory attendance.
- Ability to produce quality work and meet required productivity expectations.
Skills
- Specialized Knowledge:
- Operation of pallet jacks and other materials handling equipment (MHE).
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Physical Abilities:
- Never: Crawling, sitting.
- Occasionally: Climbing up to 4 feet (with fall protection training and equipment), smelling, balancing, kneeling, talking.
- Frequently: Crouching, pushing and pulling up to 60 lbs.
- Continuously: Handling, gripping, carrying, and lifting up to 60 lbs; feeling, pivoting, stooping, reaching (waist/overhead), standing, walking on carpet/tile/concrete, fingering, hearing, seeing, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet.

Pay
Starting pay rate: $17.00 per hour.
Schedule
1st Shift: 9:00 AM until completed.
No travel is required for this role.
