Utility BESS Technician III - (Uxbridge, MA)

Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) through SCADA, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing BESS systems, including inverters, battery packs, cooling systems, transformers, switchgear, and metering systems.
- Work in an on-site position in Uxbridge, MA.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy Operations & Maintenance, including solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Experience in operating and maintaining power plant electrical systems, SCADA and controls systems operation, troubleshooting advanced electrical components, and using procedures to perform equipment preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Prior supervisory experience a plus.
Qualifications
- Electrical certifications, state, journeyman, etc.
- College or technical degree preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Equivalent training in military, utility, or power industry a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Bending, kneeling, twisting, lifting up to 70 pounds, climbing ladders, wearing PPE for extended periods, working in high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and navigating on uneven ground on foot.
- Ability to differentiate between different colors to manage color-coded wiring.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
Skills/Competencies
- Demonstrated knowledge in electrical safety and arc flash standards.
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety and environmental procedures.
- Strong safety background with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.
- Working knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
- Proficiency reading and understanding Electrical schematics and prints.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting medium voltage and high voltage equipment, including transformers, potential transformers, current transformers, breakers, relays, contactors, motors and inverters.
- Capable of retrieving relay files and documentation.
- Fully fluent in utilizing a CMMS system for maintenance tracking.
- Proven computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Products).
- Strong communication skills are a must.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to work independently with little to no direction within company compliance and work processes.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to complete NovaSource Technician Qualification Standards successfully within 90 days of hire.
