About the Role
Multi-skilled individual conducts a variety of utilities operations and maintenance activities following the maintenance work process to optimize utility equipment operations and provide ongoing preventive maintenance and improvement support to a pre-determined maintenance plan. This role ensures the continuous supply of quality services needed to produce ready-to-drink beverage products.
Schedule
Day shift: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
2/2/3 rotation schedule
Responsibilities
- Starts, stops, operates, monitors, and maintains all utilities and operational support systems
- Plans and completes all preventive and corrective maintenance of all facility and office equipment, including:
- Boiler water treatment, boiler steam, and condensate systems
- Ammonia refrigeration system (chillers, rooftop units, cooling towers, air handling units, etc.)
- Low-pressure and high-pressure air compression systems, including air dryers
- Cooling tower water treatment and component repairs
- Reverse osmosis (RO) system and components
- Silo tank offload systems
- Monitors and controls all wastewater recycling center equipment to manage wastewater discharge
- Coordinates plant fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and alarms
- Maintains and chemically treats cooling towers
- Coordinates, monitors, and administers energy management systems
- Manages work orders and assists in establishing daily checklists and preventive/predictive maintenance programs for utility equipment
- Identifies utility equipment problems and improvement opportunities, communicating them to appropriate personnel
- Provides improvement project support as needed
- Maintains power distribution systems
- Troubleshoots control systems, including:
- Basic Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) input/output hardware
- Motors, sensors, drives, and basic electrical circuits
- Basic understanding of device communication networks
- Troubleshoots and maintains mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems
- Optimizes production equipment for key plant indicators such as safety, quality, and cost
- Reviews and optimizes maintenance plans to drive equipment reliability
- Uses, validates, and redlines engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical)
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2 years of equivalent work experience in maintenance-related areas such as Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, or Electronics, and/or a two-year technical degree preferred
- At least one year of experience in Utilities operations (boilers, compressed air, ammonia refrigeration); food industry experience preferred

- Knowledge and ability to interpret National Electrical Code
- Power systems and distribution

- Instrumentation and field devices (analog and discrete devices)
- Knowledge and use of test equipment (amp meter, megger, etc.)
- Other Skills:
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Production Workflow/Control systems
- Ability to read and interpret machine, electrical, and facility drawings
- Operate, troubleshoot, and diagnose industrial systems
- Welding, fabrication, and machining skills (as required)
- May require internal and external certifications such as sanitary welding, vibration analysis, thermography, etc.
Preferred Certifications
- Licensed Boiler Operator
- Licensed Wastewater Operator
- Ammonia Refrigeration Technician
Working Environment
- Fast-paced environment requiring prioritization and multitasking
- Exposure to loud and distracting noise levels
- Primarily indoors, but may be subject to extreme heat or cold temperatures
- Comfort with moving mechanical parts and automated equipment
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including bump cap, safety steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate clothing/footwear
- Ability to understand hazards of chemicals and materials and safely handle them
Physical Requirements
- Standing/walking for long periods
- Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and hand dexterity
- Good sense of balance, hearing, smell, and touch
- Far vision to evaluate equipment being repaired
- Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. (teamwork and proper equipment required for weights exceeding 50 lbs.)
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
- Frequent use of computers and handheld electronic equipment
