About the role

The main responsibilities of this position include maintaining a fan-friendly environment and ensuring the safety of guests at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. A Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) Usher sets the tone for the quality of service expected from PS&E employees.

Responsibilities

  • Follow PS&E standards and guest experience "ASSIST" principles, to proactively engage guests arriving and leaving the event in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Create a welcoming environment for guests while maintaining a general knowledge of the venue to better serve and answer guests questions.
  • While assigned as a ticket scanner, scan and verify appropriate tickets for each event and assist with troubleshooting ticketing issues.
  • Aid in wayfinding, directing guests to their seats and other desired locations throughout the venue.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the building layout, including all entrances, exits, amenities.
  • Ensure guests are granted access and seated in the appropriate areas of the venue. This involves checking tickets and credentials throughout the duration of the event.
  • Monitor area for any issues, spills, unattended items and clear aisleways during the event.
  • Report/intervene when appropriate for behavior inconsistent with WNBA/NBA Fan Code of Conduct and building policy (i.e. rude/inappropriate or belligerent behavior, excessive alcohol consumption, etc.).
  • Process any event and incident reports as needed, reporting any major incidents to Area Supervisor.
  • Warmly greet guests, manage crowd size and provide directions to the correct floor while assigned as an elevator operator.
  • Act as primary assistance in emergency response and emergency evacuations as needed; remain aware of PS&E emergency procedures.
  • Understand the function of ADA in a public facility and the various ADA escort and seating options in Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
  • Participate in training & continuing education as provided by PS&E to stay current with needs of position and industry standards.
  • Assist with distribution of promotional materials as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Stadium/event crowd management or customer service experience preferred.

Problem solving and interpersonal requirements

Employee must collaborate with various internal and external constituents to solve problems with accuracy, integrity, and outstanding customer service. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and resolutions.

Physical and environmental demands

This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time. The duties of this job may also require the employee to regularly sit, walk, navigate stairs, move heavy objects, use a computer, use a telephone and write. This position also requires hearing and visual acuity to converse with internal and external constituents in person or via radio in an environment with heavy noise levels. There may be times of high volume and high stress.
