User Experience Researcher (Remote - Milwaukee/NYC)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product, design, and development teams to advocate for user needs, pain points, and behaviors.
  • Understand stakeholder research needs and select appropriate research methodologies to address them.
  • Execute end-to-end UX research projects from kickoff through fielding, interviews, analysis, and findings presentation.
  • Develop UX research artifacts including research proposals, moderator guides, and results summaries.
  • Synthesize research findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Identify additional research opportunities that add value and execute them efficiently.
  • Recruit and maintain research participant pools from internal and external sources.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on user behavior and research insights across the organization.
  • Launch surveys, analyze results, and support research reporting across multiple product areas.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience conducting formal UX research.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
  • Experience conducting usability studies, user interviews, ethnographic research, benchmarking, focus groups, and surveys.
  • Strong experience in research analysis and report writing.
  • Experience supporting full-cycle product development through UX research.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and consult with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of user behavior, pain points, and experience design principles.
  • Practical knowledge of statistics and data interpretation.
  • Experience with UX research tools such as OptimalSort, UserZoom, and UserTesting.
  • Experience with survey platforms such as Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience using Slack.
  • Ability to work autonomously and thrive in ambiguous environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences, Library Science, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant UX research experience may be considered.
  • Strong background in psychology or human behavior research.
  • Experience conducting large-scale ethnographic research and usability-focused studies.
