USDA-ARS Research Fellowship in Nutrition and Food Processing
About the role
The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to collaborate on a clinical intervention study investigating the impact of food processing on ingestive behaviors and satiety. This research aims to enhance understanding of how food processing affects eating behaviors and health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on a clinical intervention study to investigate the impact of food processing on ingestive behaviors and satiety.
- Gain valuable skills in interdisciplinary research and clinical trial development.
- Receive training in food pattern modeling methodologies.
- Collaborate with a broad range of scientists and develop a strong network.
- Develop methods to investigate the links between agriculture and human health.
- Further develop skills related to manuscript preparation.
Requirements
- Received or be currently pursuing a doctoral degree in nutrition or a closely related field with demonstrable nutrition-related research experience.
- Anticipated to receive degree by 10/1/2026.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Broad knowledge of nutrition and physiology with an interest in food science, food policy, and food processing.
- Specific knowledge and techniques helpful for the participant include interdisciplinary collaboration, human intervention studies, and experimental design/statistics.
- Capable of analyzing data and preparing reports of the results.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only.
Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree received within the last 48 months or anticipated to be received by 10/1/2026.
- Discipline(s): Nutrition, closely related fields.
- Veteran Status: Veterans Preference, degree received within the last 120 month(s).

Benefits
The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. The anticipated stipend range is $68,000 - $75,000 annually.

The appointment will initially be for two years.
