USDA-ARS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Food Quality
About the role
The postdoc will participate in the design and execution of active packaging aimed at improving the quality and shelf life of pecans. Specific activities will include experimental design, data collection and analysis, and presentation of results to a variety of audiences. Additionally, the fellow will have the opportunity to interact with stakeholders and those responsible for programs related to pecan quality.

Requirements
The qualified candidate should be currently pursuing or have received a doctoral degree in the following fields: Agricultural Sciences, Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Food Sciences and Technology, Horticulture, Physiology, or Plant Sciences.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in relevant field (Chemistry and Materials Sciences, Life Health and Medical Sciences)
Skills
- Hands-on experience in active packaging development
- Experience with laboratory techniques and data collection
- Ability to assess pecan quality attributes
- Interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders and program managers
Benefits
The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. The anticipated stipend range is $5,899 - $7,666 monthly, and $4,500 for travel/supplies.

$5,899.00 - $7,666.00 Monthly
Schedule
The appointment will initially be for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of ARS and is contingent on the availability of funds.
