About the role

Develops, communicates, and leverages a strategic vision aligned with company, market, and local plans to direct the management team and hourly associates in facility operations, merchandising, and company direction.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for management and hourly associates in a facility that may present challenges such as high turnover, significant engagement issues, inexperienced associates, and recruiting difficulties in a competitive market. Responsibilities include ongoing recruitment, hiring, training, mentoring, succession planning, duty assignment, performance evaluation, recognition, and fostering a belonging mindset across multiple organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold the company’s Open Door Policy by meeting with associates, listening to concerns, researching issues, leveraging resources for complex requests, reviewing policies, ensuring consistency in responsiveness, and providing resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures by proactively addressing compliance issues, navigating challenging regulatory environments, developing relationships with federal, state, and local officials, holding associates accountable, analyzing reports, implementing asset protection and safety controls, maintaining quality assurance, overseeing safety reviews, and correcting deficiencies.
  • Initiate, direct, and participate in community outreach programs in high-visibility environments, engaging with media, supporting associates in community service, establishing relationships with key community figures, presenting the company’s perspective, and championing sustainability efforts.
  • Drive financial performance by achieving sales and profit goals, maintaining a strategic business perspective, executing process improvements, controlling expenses, interfacing with market teams to increase margins, developing corrective plans for financial deficiencies, and overseeing budget creation and forecasting.
  • Model and enforce customer service standards to ensure customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved within company guidelines.
  • Drive sales by accounting for dynamic indicators such as external environment, merchandising, customer base, replenishment, and sales windows, ensuring effective merchandise presentation, accurate pricing, proper signing, and inventory management.
  • Ensure the success of the Academy training environment by meeting store standards, creating an engaging culture, integrating Academy associates into leadership activities, providing job shadowing opportunities, maintaining high customer service levels, and acting as an operations champion.
  • Provide overall direction by analyzing business objectives, developing strategies, determining resource requirements, evaluating processes, measuring outcomes, identifying improvement opportunities, and promoting adaptability and continuous learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain a skilled workforce, including diagnosing capability gaps, recruiting talent, supporting mentorship, and leveraging existing talent.
  • Cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics, integrating these values into programs and practices.
  • Develop and leverage internal and external partnerships to maximize business goals, including leading community initiatives and engaging stakeholders.
  • Build high-performing teams by embracing diversity, fostering a culture of belonging, and creating opportunities for associates to thrive.
  • Work collaboratively, build trusting relationships, and communicate with impact to motivate and influence others.
  • Attract and retain talent, empower and develop associates, and recognize contributions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of general management experience, including financial accountability, and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and 5 exempt associates (performance management, mentoring, hiring, termination); OR
  • 4 years of general management experience, including financial accountability, and 4 years’ experience supervising at least 50 nonexempt and 5 exempt associates (performance management, mentoring, hiring, termination).
  • For facilities that sell firearms: successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training.
  • For facilities that sell only ammunition: may require a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility.
  • Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy training).

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $170,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and may include:

  • Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) adjustments based on location.
  • Complex Structure adjustments for external challenges.
  • State Pay Differential to meet legislative requirements, where applicable.
