About the role
Join Walmart’s Supply Chain Finance team as a Manager supporting Labor Optimization across the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) network. This role will be based onsite at a Southeast RDC a minimum of three days per week, with approximately 25% annual travel throughout the region. As part of a new and growing team, you will help shape how staffing optimization is integrated into existing business processes. This role combines financial and analytical expertise, operational partnership, and change management to develop forward-looking labor plans and translate data into actionable staffing and productivity recommendations.
About the team
The Labor Optimization Finance team is building and scaling a new approach to workforce planning across Walmart’s distribution network. We partner closely with Operations, HR, Engineering, Analytics, and Technology to integrate staffing optimization into existing ways of working while developing the tools, processes, and mechanisms needed to scale the program. This is an opportunity to work in an evolving environment, navigate ambiguity, and directly influence how the program develops.
Responsibilities
- Own weekly Labor Optimization planning for assigned RDCs, developing forward-looking staffing and productivity plans aligned to forecasted demand.
- Partner with site and divisional leadership to validate assumptions, identify risks, and translate insights into actionable staffing recommendations.
- Analyze actual performance against Labor Optimization plans, identify root causes of variances, and communicate recommendations to leadership.
- Partner across Operations, HR, Engineering, Analytics, and Technology to improve labor productivity and optimize variable costs.
- Drive adoption and change management as Labor Optimization is integrated into existing operational and financial processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and build scalable tools, reporting, and decision-support mechanisms.
Requirements
- Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL with the ability to leverage data to uncover insights and influence business decisions.
- Ability to operate effectively in a startup-like environment, navigate ambiguity, and build solutions where an established playbook may not exist.
- Strong partnership and influencing skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate confidently with site and senior leadership.
- Passion for operational excellence, continuous improvement, and using data to solve business problems.
- Comfort working directly within an operational environment and developing an understanding of distribution center processes and labor drivers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 2 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or relevant area OR 4 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical experience with BigQuery, Python, and Visual Studio Code, along with the ability to leverage AI tools for analytics, automation, and process improvement.
- Analyzing data and interpreting results.
- Microsoft Office.
- Supervisory experience.
- Masters: Business Administration.

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock for certain positions.

This role is based onsite at a Southeast RDC a minimum of three days per week, with approximately 25% annual travel throughout the region.
