Position Summary

The Group Director of Walmart+ Engineering will lead day to day business operations and execution against engineering roadmaps, including supporting our existing W+ members, driving new member acquisition, and enabling membership programs and promotions. The Group Director will also be responsible for strategic engineering initiatives focused on accelerating mission critical business priorities, including reducing our high monthly churn rate of 27% and increasing our Walmart+ subscriber growth. As Walmart+ continues to scale, the organization requires strong operational leadership and more dedicated focus across engineering acceleration, business critical feature delivery and initiatives that directly move the needle on business outcomes. The Group Director will partner closely with Engineering, Product and Business leaders to improve operational velocity, scale execution through inner-sourcing into dependent teams, and establish operating models that drive high impact initiatives to accelerate business outcomes.

What you'll do

The key business critical outcomes and tech priorities for this leader will include:

  • Drive Walmart+ Trial to paid subscription conversion to accelerate membership acquisition and overall membership growth
  • Reduce monthly member churn by improving engagement, retention and long-term customer value
  • Increase annual subscription adoption to improve operating income to drive stronger recurring revenue economics
  • Scale Tech execution through inner-sourcing into dependent Tech teams, and establish operating models to accelerate delivery and XFN alignment

What you'll bring

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of software architecture and design leadership
  • 5+ years leading highly technical teams successfully
  • Strong background in designing and implementing large-scale, distributed, and highly available software systems
  • Expertise in software architecture patterns, design principles, and best practices
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and technology stacks
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor engineering teams

Minimum Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 9 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area
  • Option 2: 11 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices

Pay

Annual salary range: $254,000.00 - $481,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and stock.
