Position Summary
We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader to define and execute the strategy for Walmart's Traffic Foundation platforms. This role will lead the architecture, delivery, and operations of mission-critical traffic management systems that power Walmart's global digital experiences.
About The Team
Traffic Foundation is part of Walmart Global Tech's Infrastructure and Platform Engineering organization. We build and operate the traffic management platforms that power Walmart's digital ecosystem, ensuring applications are fast, reliable, secure, and scalable. Our platforms handle millions of requests per second across eCommerce, Stores, Supply Chain, and Enterprise systems. We develop critical capabilities including traffic routing, load balancing, caching, edge services, and traffic orchestration that help Walmart deliver exceptional experiences at global scale.
What you'll do
Lead Technology Strategy
Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for Traffic Foundation platforms.
Partner with engineering, product, and infrastructure leaders to align platform investments with business priorities.
Establish engineering standards and best practices for scalability, reliability, and security.
Build and Lead High-Performing Teams
Lead and develop engineering managers and senior engineers across global teams.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
Drive talent development, organizational planning, and team growth.
Deliver at Scale
Lead large, complex, cross-functional initiatives across multiple organizations.
Oversee the design and operation of highly available, distributed systems supporting Walmart's critical applications.
Drive platform modernization, automation, and cloud adoption initiatives.
Ensure Operational Excellence
Own the reliability, performance, and security of critical traffic infrastructure.
Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
Establish and monitor key operational and engineering metrics.

Additional Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00 - $338,000.00 in Sunnyvale, California US-11657.
The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 in Bentonville, Arkansas US-30095.
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Stock.
Minimum Qualifications
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. 3 years' supervisory experience.
