The (USA) Cafe Barista plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer experiences by preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages and food items according to established recipes and standards. This position involves maintaining the coffee bar’s appearance, managing inventory, operating and troubleshooting brewing equipment, and adhering to food safety and sanitation policies. The role requires continuous learning to enhance product knowledge and service quality while collaborating effectively with team members to support store operations and uphold Walmart’s commitment to integrity, excellence, and customer satisfaction.

What you'll do

• Prepare and serve coffee beverages and food items following established recipes and preparation techniques.
• Maintain and improve the appearance and cleanliness of the coffee bar and store areas.
• Demonstrate and explain coffee products, brewing equipment, and services to customers.
• Replenish supplies, stock coffee beans, pastries, and related items to ensure availability.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinating repairs as needed.
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation policies, and company standards to ensure quality and compliance.
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance product knowledge and service quality.

What you'll bring

• Proven experience in preparing and serving espresso beverages and other coffee drinks following established recipes and techniques.
• Knowledge of espresso machines, coffee making processes, and product offerings to effectively assist and educate customers.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, and compliance with company policies to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on coffee brewing equipment.
• Strong communication skills to engage customers and collaborate with team members.
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in coffee retail and food service practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: 1 year’s experience as a barista. Ability to obtain certified ServSafe Food Handler or related food safety certification within 30 days of hire.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $16.00 - $28.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
