Cafe Barista
Position Details
The University of Vermont is seeking a Cafe Barista to assist in the smooth daily operation of Henderson’s Café, located within the UVM Bookstore. The position involves performing opening or closing duties on a set schedule, preparing coffee and specialty drinks, operating a cash register, maintaining Café systems and displays, supervising student employees, and providing excellent customer service.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school diploma is required. An understanding of basic retail practices and knowledge of computer operations are also required. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and training, fostering a collaborative multicultural environment, is desirable.
- Desirable Qualifications:
- Familiarity with retail sales and operations is preferred. Experience in a fast-paced restaurant or café setting is highly desirable.
Anticipated Pay Range
The anticipated pay range for this position is $18.50-$19.10 per hour.
Other Information
Must be available to work some weekends, evenings, and occasional university holidays with occasional overtime. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Special Conditions
A probationary period may be required. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be necessary (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime). This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions. A background check is required for this position.

This position is classified as Non-Exempt.
Union Position
This position is a Union Position under UE (United Electrical Workers) with a minimum hourly rate of $18.50.
