US Navy Submarine Fire Control or SONAR Technician (FT/STS) Test Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Test Engineer with hands-on experience with the Navy's AN/BYG-1 Tactical Control System (TCS) to contribute to the Submarine Combat System delivered to the United States Navy (USN) and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Submarine fleet. Working knowledge of AN/BYG-1 Tactical Control, Payload Control, Weapon Control, Common Infrastructure, and/or Information Assurance subsystems is preferred. Our team is passionate about delivering the best product to the Navy to help protect our country and collaborates closely with the Submarine community to develop solutions that enable high-stakes national security missions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct subsystem and system-of-systems testing.
  • Work in an Agile environment with engineers across the program to verify deliveries to the Navy.
  • Analyze how software meets system, functional, and performance requirements.
  • Communicate and proactively resolve issues with engineers from other subsystems to determine root causes and solutions.
  • Investigate test failures and determine root-cause.
  • Write clear and concise bug reports and verify bug fixes (validation/verification).
  • Mentor junior test engineers.
  • Determine and report metrics for testing and relay results to stakeholders.
  • Support all tasking assigned by the Test Lead.

Requirements

  • Formal testing experience in a DoD production delivery environment.
  • Experience working proactively with local and remote test team members.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills using Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools.
  • Working knowledge of test engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Experience working in the SWFTS submarine community.
  • Ability to recognize relevant information and clearly communicate issues and alternatives.
  • US Navy Submarine Fire Control or SONAR Technician (FT/STS) experience is REQUIRED.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a specialized area or field or the equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • BS with 2-4 years of experience, MS with 0-2 years, or HS with 8-10 years of relevant experience.

Pay

Projected compensation range for this position: $64,842.27 – $112,748.12. Final salary/hourly rate may vary based on differentiating factors such as Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills, geographic location, education, certifications, and Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
