Our Toronto office is seeking an experienced US Immigration Lawyer with excellent communication skills who effectively collaborates and supports their clients in a constantly changing landscape of Canadian business immigration. Responsibilities

  • Develop an expert-level understanding of your client base and the industries you support as well as the firm’s practice areas and services provided.
  • Absess eligibility of corporate foreign national employees for non-immigrant and immigrant visa status.
  • Work with client global mobility personnel to prepare petitions and applications for submission to government agencies for non-immigrant and immigrant foreign national employees.
  • Draft and prepare letters and legal documents, typically based on established precedents.
  • Conduct research to support client requests and projects.
  • Supervise the work of paralegal staff in record keeping and document preparation.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and effectively implement guidance and direction offered by supervisors and experienced colleagues.
  • Proactively communicate with clients, within SLAs/team protocols and with a precise, efficient, thoughtful, and organized response.
  • Partner with colleagues to resolve client issues, share information, and support client projects.
  • Support clients in immigration program management and compliance.
  • Leverage firm technology accurately and in line with team and client protocols, ensuring accurate and complete data is entered.
  • Actively contribute to team meetings and firmwide activities.
  • As a source of advice and training to more junior colleagues, proactively sharing immigration knowledge and expertise.
  • Ensure self and team follow documented firm standards and policy to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory, operational and client compliance.

Qualifications

  • Canadian bar lawyer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience and knowledge of US immigration law.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with clients and staff.
  • Ability to manage a broad caseload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identify issues, analyze facts, and determine appropriate case strategy.
  • Effectively utilize online research tools and comfortable working with client management systems.
  • Displays professionalism, quality service, and a "positive" can do attitude and contributes to the Firm's overall initiatives.

Pay

A reasonable and good-faith estimate of the current salary range for individuals able to work a hybrid schedule in the office locally is $98,000.00 - $117,000.00. You may also be eligible to take advantage of our benefits offering, RRSP, and paid time off plans.
