About the role
As an Urban Farm Assistant, you will support our agriculture team in greenhouse and field production, vegetable harvesting and handling, and seasonal landscape tasks. This role is hands-on and outdoors, requiring flexibility, attention to detail, and a can-do attitude. You will also collaborate with our culinary staff to support campus dining needs with high-quality, fresh produce. This is a full-time, project position through mid-late October 2026.
Responsibilities
- Perform vegetable farm and greenhouse tasks including seeding, transplanting, trellising, harvesting, washing, and packaging produce.
- Carry out routine landscape and grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, weeding, and trash removal.
- Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance through cleaning and routine service checks.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces.
- Provide support to the Land & Natural Resources Manager and Interior Horticulturist as needed.
- Participate in large-scale seasonal projects (infrastructure improvements, preservation, grounds care).

Requirements
- High school diploma, or relevant education such as a degree or coursework in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field, or proven work experience that ensures readiness for success in this role.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in vegetable gardening, greenhouse work, or farming.
- Experience with power tools and equipment such as string trimmers, lawn mowers, ATVs, and tractors.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
