About the role
The Farm Assistant at Piedmont Equine Associates is a full-time position responsible for assisting veterinarians in the care of equine patients. This role involves a variety of tasks including feeding and watering horses, cleaning stalls, maintaining inpatient records, patient handling, and performing basic farm maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Assist with feeding and watering horses and cleaning stalls
- Document feedings and check water throughout the day
- Clean troughs, buckets, and pans and properly bed stalls for patient care
- Maintain inpatient records including feedings, location, and admission/discharge notes
- Help with patient handling and transportation of horses, feed, hay, and equipment
- Perform lawn maintenance to keep areas, including fence lines, clean and tidy
- Maintain parking areas, lameness pads, and arenas ensuring they are clean and orderly
- Clean floors, remove garbage, and clean multi-surface areas as needed
- Operate farm equipment for moving hay, feed, and shavings

Qualifications
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not required
