University Police Events Specialist

This role supports special events, crime prevention programming, and community service functions.

Responsibilities

• Special Event Support:
  • Deploy and remove event equipment (cones, barricades, trailers, message boards, signage) for small to large-scale events.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including trucks, golf carts, and Polaris ATVs.
  • Perform traffic control functions in roadways and parking lots.
• Crime Prevention / Community Outreach Support:
  • Staff Crime Prevention booths, tables, and events.
  • Disseminate and present Crime Prevention materials and training.
  • Create signs, banners, and maps to provide public information.
• Clerical Support:
  • Enter data and run reports on databases related to special events.
  • Organize schedules, meetings, and maintain forms, files, and records.
  • Schedule law enforcement resources for special events.
  • Ensure event request forms are properly completed, reviewed, and approved.
• University Support:
  • Manage lost/found property and provide motorist assistance.
  • Complete physical security reports and hazard safety reports.
  • Register bikes and property.
  • Assist with fire/evacuation drills.
  • Handle flag management (raise, lower, replace damaged flags).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 2–4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of relevant job experience.
• Prior law enforcement or special events experience.
