About the role

Kaplan University Partners (KUP) is seeking part-time STEM mentors to assist pre-college students enrolled in online programs. Mentors will engage and support students throughout the course, providing guidance, answering questions, and offering support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide async guidance, feedback, and answer questions
  • Review course assignments, provide direction, and answer questions
  • Answer ad hoc questions throughout the course session
  • Brainstorm and ideate with students on their final project idea(s)
  • Be familiar with all course material
  • Check-in with the program staff at specified periods
  • Report back on student engagement as requested

Requirements

  • Strong passion for course related topics
  • Experience working with adolescents/teens ages 13-17 from diverse geographical and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Passion for helping others achieve their goals with an emphasis on delighting and engaging students
  • Demonstrated ability to work in the absence of direct supervisory relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and work in digital communications platforms such as email, Zoom, Google Hangouts or Canvas
  • Background check authorization to work in the United States
  • Knowledge or experience in STEM

Benefits

The role is under Kaplan Test Prep, a U.S. based company. Employees must be eligible to work in the U.S., and the work must be performed in the U.S.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Schedule

Time commitment will vary based on number of students assigned and is expected to be heavier during the summer months (May - August).
