Title: Youth Development Professional (YDP) Reports to: Program Director Salary Range: $15-$17 - DOE; Eligible to receive an additional $1,565 Education Award at the end of the program Hours: 25* hours per week- Monday, Thursday, Friday 2:00-6:30pm, Wednesday 12:30-6:30pm, Tuesday 1:30-6:30pm Potential for more hours during summer programming. Job Summary In partnership with AmeriCorps, STEM Youth Development Professionals (YDP) facilitate fun, engaging, and age-appropriate STEM-related activities for youth or teens from diverse backgrounds. Using our three priority outcomes - academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles - as a guide, Youth Development Professionals run programs, offer support, and ensure that every Club Member has an Optimal Club Experience that sets them up for lifelong success. Successful YDPs have a passion for serving others and contributing to the well-being of the community at large. Youth Development Professionals have the ability to connect with young people and offer supportive relationships. They are team players willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Club Members are safe, recognized, and given the opportunity to learn new skills. The Perks! $1,565 Education Award available upon successful completion of AmeriCorps program (in May), and will be paid directly to school, or held in AmeriCorps portal until ready to use Monday-Friday work schedule, no late nights or weekends required, great for student/work/life balancePTO/Floating Holidays available after the first 90 days of employmentPaid day off for your birthday - because YDPs should have some fun too!Professional development- mentorship with industry leaders, organization-wide training, and experience in STEM programming Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities) Plan and implement daily group activities with a focus on STEM and academics with youth ages 8-12Transport youth in Club vehicles (school pick-ups, fieldtrips, etc.)Ensure engagement and promote consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activitiesEstablish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, and role modelingProvide active supervision, continually interacting with all membersSubmit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other paperwork responsibilitiesPlan special events, such as guest speakers, performances, or field tripsAbide by and carry out safety policies and proceduresAttend local trainings Needed Knowledge Ability to work in high-energy, loud, and active settings with large groups of youth and teensAbility to prioritize tasks and accomplish them in a detailed, timely mannerExcellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Club Members, peers, parents, community leaders, etc.Self-motivated, and comfortable with both independent and collaborative processesStrong group management skills Requirements Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalentMust be able to pass a criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screening. Preferred Qualifications Currently in school for a STEM-related field, or interest in STEM and educational programming for youth21 years and over (to meet driving requirements), and be willing and able to drive 15-passenger vansBilingual Spanish/English The Pay Range For This Role Is 15 - 17 USD per hour(Miller Club)
