STEM Youth Mentor (Murray)

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes the well-being of its community. The organization is committed to providing opportunities for youth from diverse backgrounds through engaging STEM-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate fun, engaging, and age-appropriate STEM-related activities for youth or teens aged 8-12.
• Run programs, offer support, and ensure that every Club Member has an Optimal Club Experience.
• Connect with young people and offer supportive relationships.
• Willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Club Members are safe, recognized, and given the opportunity to learn new skills.
• Plan and implement daily group activities with a focus on STEM and academics.
• Transport youth in Club vehicles (school pick-ups, field trips, etc.).
• Ensure engagement and promote consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.
• Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, and role modeling.
• Provide active supervision, continually interacting with all members.
• Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other paperwork responsibilities.
• Plan special events, such as guest speakers, performances, or field trips.
• Abide by and carry out safety policies and procedures.
• Attend local trainings.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass a criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screening.
• Currently in school for a STEM-related field, or interested in STEM and educational programming for youth (preferred).
• Be 21 years and over (to meet driving requirements), and be willing and able to drive 15-passenger vans (preferred).
• Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred).
