University Compliance Specialist (Full-Time/Day) East Falls

About the role

The Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that members of the Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health community adhere to the enterprise Code of Conduct. They conduct research, support internal investigations, draft reports, manage communications with regulatory authorities, and collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute project work plans and revise as needed.
• Identify and secure necessary resources to ensure timely project completion.
• Manage day-to-day operational aspects of compliance workplans and related projects.
• Prepare deliverables and review timelines and work product with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
• Utilize internal controls to manage alerts and ensure timely responses to compliance-related matters.
• Identify and communicate project risks and challenges to appropriate team members.
• Analyze, track, trend, and respond to communications received from state regulatory authorities, payers, internal members of the Jefferson community, and vendors.
• Develop and monitor reports related to compliance management committee and regional board compliance committee meetings and follow-up activities.
• Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson’s core values.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5 years of related experience
• Preferred: Compliance experience, higher education experience, paralegal background/experience

• Maintain a thorough understanding of Federal and State laws, NCAA requirements, rules, regulations, and guidance governing Education and other compliance-related topics

Other Functions

• Assess compliance with internal controls and procedures related to staff training, utilization of compliance systems, fiscal year work plan, and budget targets.
• Audit, monitor, and report on utilization of compliance third-party vendors and outside resources.
• Serve as a liaison for local and enterprise compliance learning activities, programming, and events.
• Provide internal planning support for all compliance-related events and programming.
• Special projects and other duties as assigned.
