About the Role
Responsible for all duties related to safely providing for the resident’s care and well-being. The role requires a responsible demeanor to ensure the resident population has confidence in the ability to meet their needs.
Responsibilities
- Assists with resident care needs including toileting, ambulation, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, escorting, and transferring.
- Understands resident alert status and reports any changes immediately.
- Follows the resident’s interim service plan and notifies the Resident Care Coordinator/Administrator/Health Services Director (HSD) of changes in condition.
- Assists in the dining room during meal times, including setup, taking orders, serving, and cleaning.
- Assists with activities and ensures residents attend scheduled activities.
- Prepares residents for and escorts them to scheduled appointments.
- Reports changes in resident condition to Medication Tech/Resident Care Coordinator/HSD immediately.
- Delivers and restocks residents’ incontinent supplies.
- Washes, dries, folds, and returns laundry to the appropriate resident.
- Collects and disposes of trash in designated receptacles.
- Demonstrates proper technique for assisting with equipment such as gait belts, sit-to-stand lifts, transfer boards, oxygen equipment, catheters, wheelchairs, and scales.
- Takes accurate vital signs and weights.
- Performs assigned housekeeping duties, including dusting, vacuuming, polishing, cleaning bathrooms, restocking supplies, and mopping.
- Maintains cleanliness of residents’ apartments, including cleaning commodes and hi-rise toilet seats.
- Reports safety issues in residents’ apartments to maintenance/Administrator/Resident Care Coordinator.
- Notifies management of incidents or errors and completes incident reports accurately.
- Covers for the receptionist as directed.
- Answers call lights in a timely manner.
- Maintains responsibility for pagers, keys, and radios while on duty and signs them in and out every shift.
Requirements
- Completion of some high school or equivalent courses (high school diploma or equivalent preferred).
- Active and unexpired CPR certification (required by law).
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
- Familiarity and willingness to work with the elderly population.
- Previous elder care experience preferred.
