About the role
Universal Representatives serve both call-in and face-to-face credit union Members and potential Members by ensuring prompt, professional, and courteous service. They perform a wide variety of services, including processing teller functions, opening and closing deposit accounts, resolving problems, conducting research, and addressing any other daily member needs.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome members in a professional and timely manner.
- Represent the credit union courteously and professionally, providing prompt, efficient, and accurate service.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all credit union products, services, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform teller duties:
- Receive checks and cash for deposits and loan payments, verify amounts, and examine checks for proper endorsement.
- Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
- Cash checks and process withdrawals after verifying signatures and member balances.
- Meet teller balancing standards monthly as outlined in procedures.
- Act as a Member Service Representative:
- Open accounts for new and existing members, resolve issues, and address daily member needs.
- Cross-sell credit union services, such as safe deposit boxes, debit/credit cards, and online banking.
- Research account discrepancies for deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
- Assist members in opening individual retirement accounts (IRA).
- Input loan applications, verify accuracy, complete loan documents, and disburse approved loans.
- Explain loan denials professionally and provide alternative recommendations for future loan opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of recent banking experience at another financial institution.
- Strong customer service skills, including thoroughness, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Ability to analyze information, make decisions, and maintain a quality focus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with coworkers, customers, community members, and management.
- Ability to comply with company and industry operating, safety standards, rules, and regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or minimal force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and handle cash.
- Ability to view a computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods.
- Ability to work with confidential information, materials, and files discreetly.
Working Conditions
