About the role
The Universal Branch Representative performs the duties of both a Teller and Member Service Representative, delivering an exceptional member experience while supporting branch sales and service strategies.
Responsibilities
The role includes both Teller and Member Service Responsibilities.
Teller Responsibilities include:
- Establishing member relationships through quality service and cross-selling products/services
- Handling transactions proficiently and accurately, with good judgment and seeking approval when necessary
- Performing paying and receiving functions with accurate balancing and reporting
- Disbursing cash accurately and maintaining a cash drawer, balancing it daily
- Verifying and balancing assigned cash drawer daily with minimal cash variances
- Assisting in reconciling errors or discrepancies
- Evaluating needs of existing and prospective members and making daily referrals to Member Service Representatives
Member Service Responsibilities include:
- Opening Memberships and all types of deposit accounts
- Providing assistance and maintenance on all deposit and loan accounts
- Referral-based lending knowledge and assessing member financial needs to identify cross-sell opportunities
- Making appropriate referrals to deepen member relationships
- Engaging members and prospective members in a professional and courteous manner
- Demonstrating flexibility and leadership skills to maximize exceptional member experience
- Answering member inquiries and cross-selling products and services when appropriate
Requirements
- Required notary certification and staying informed of all notary rules and regulations
- Complying with all published enterprise level policies and procedures, including Risk Management policies
- Completing all required, ongoing enterprise level training, including BSA, OFAC, and Information Security
- Reporting all Risk Management Policy violations in accordance with policy
- Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of all applicable federal and state regulations, including corporate policies and procedures
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge of products and services offered by financial institutions
- Satisfactory computer skills
- Positive and effective communication and public relations skills, cross-selling, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Sound judgment and ability to handle difficult situations
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain a professional appearance and manner
Minimum education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with some college education or business courses preferred, and customer/member service experience, preferably at a financial institution, with cash handling/business experience at a financial institution.
Physical Requirements
This job requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and/or up to 30 pounds frequently.
