Merchants Bank in Rosemount is seeking a Universal Banker II to deliver exceptional customer service and proactively offer banking products and services tailored to customers' financial needs.

About the Role

As a Universal Banker, you will serve as a primary point of contact for customers, assisting with banking and financial transactions, account inquiries, opening new accounts and safe deposit boxes, and providing product recommendations in an efficient and friendly manner. This role plays a crucial role in building customer relationships and fraud prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding service to internal and external customers, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all transactions.
  • Open and maintain basic checking, savings, business accounts, IRAs, HSAs, and CDs.
  • Process banking transactions in the Teller area, including deposits, loan payments, check cashing, withdrawals, night deposits, cashier’s checks, and money orders.
  • Open, close, and maintain safe deposit boxes; serve as a Vault Attendant if needed.
  • Assist customers with internet banking, bill pay, e-statements, mobile banking, and telephone banking.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
  • Build strong customer relationships to understand financial goals and identify opportunities to meet their needs.
  • Meet or exceed individual sales targets for banking products such as deposit accounts, loans, and credit cards.
  • Conduct outbound sales activities, including prospecting, lead generation, and follow-up on sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve branch sales goals and contribute to overall business growth.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the bank’s products, services, and promotions; educate customers on features, benefits, and terms.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive offerings.
  • Complete all required compliance training and certifications; adhere to security and fraud prevention measures.
  • Process transactions in compliance with internal policies, procedures, and banking regulations.
  • Perform administrative and operational tasks related to account opening, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Review the daily overdraft report to proactively assist customers.
  • Participate in community engagement, external sales activities, trade shows, and promotional events as directed.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer, organized work area, and accurate supply of cash and coin.
  • Accept cross-training requests for additional duties and contribute to a positive team environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of front-line banking experience (Level II).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in all Level I Universal Banker duties, including opening and maintaining deposit accounts, processing transactions, and serving as a Vault Attendant.
  • Proficient in Consumer Credit Card and Overdraft Protection (ODP) lending.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult customer situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Strong time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Cash handling experience desired; strong math skills required.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and ability to learn regulatory and compliance guidelines.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including Saturdays (8:45 AM – 12:15 PM) and occasional shifts at nearby branches.
  • Regular and dependable on-time attendance is essential.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Work hours vary between 7:45 AM – 5:15 PM, Monday through Friday, with a Saturday rotation of 8:45 AM – 12:15 PM. Occasional shifts may occur at nearby branches.
