MUSC is seeking a board-certified Pediatric Gastroenterologist to join the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology within its nationally recognized Department of Pediatrics in coastal South Carolina. This full-time position is located near Myrtle Beach.

The Gastroenterology & GI Surgery program is repeatedly recognized on the US News & World Report Best Children’s Hospital Rankings and is the largest and most comprehensive program in the region.

The Pediatric Gastroenterology Division performs over 16,000 outpatient visits, 2,000 inpatient consultations, and 1,400 procedures annually with an emphasis on excellence in clinical care. The team is the only pediatric liver transplant, motility, and advanced therapeutic endoscopy center in South Carolina. The division collaborates with many other specialties at MUSC Children’s Health to treat patients holistically.

MUSC Children’s Health opened the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion in 2020, a 100,000-square-foot, 262-bed, state-of-the-art facility transforming fetal, women’s, and children’s care in the region. Supporting clinical care is the Charles P. Darby Children’s Research Institute, the largest pediatric research facility in the Carolinas.

Opportunity details

• Expand outpatient consultation delivery in the Myrtle Beach area at the Murrells Inlet location, which currently services 4 days per week and is staffed by a pediatric gastroenterologist and nurse practitioner.
• Pediatric endoscopy is performed locally within the regional hospital network.
• No call or after-hours phone coverage required.
• Join a collaborative team of 12 faculty physicians, 6 advanced practice providers (APPs), dietitians, and fellows.
• Schedule: 1 administrative day and 4 clinic days per week, averaging 12 patients per day.
• Clinic location is a MUSC pediatric multi-subspecialty office.

Requirements

• Board-certified Pediatrician who has completed an accredited Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in South Carolina.
