Unit Secretary - Pediatric Emergency Department - Full Time Days
Responsibilities
Assists the physician and nurse with a variety of treatments and patient care procedures.
Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor and gives a general report on all patients at the end of each shift.
Reports vital signs and records accurately and within a timely manner.
Observes, reports and records patient care, symptoms, treatments and reactions following approved policies and procedures of the institution.
Affords assistance and participation in in-service education.
Maintains a clean environment in patient rooms and work area.
Notifies RN of changes in patient condition in a timely manner and documents appropriately.
Performs and/or assists patients with personal care activities, such as baths, showers, skin and hair care, and oral hygiene.
Provides specific patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and/or other designated individuals.
Contributes to patient and family teaching while performing procedures as instructed.
Performs other tasks or special assignments as necessary to maintain proper operations and patient care.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Proficiency with medical vocabulary and general understanding of hospital policy & procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
