Unit Secretary - Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department
About the role
The Unit Assistant provides clerical support in the Emergency Department. They facilitate communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. They serve as a public relations liaison for the unit.
Qualifications
- Certifications:
- Education: H.S. Diploma/GED
- Work Experience:
- Answers all incoming phone calls for the ED
- Manages admits and discharges from the EPIC computer system
- Completes data tracking for EKGs and Tele boxes
- Liaison/collaborates between outside facilities, nursing staff, and physicians
- Maintains office supplies throughout nurses stations
- Completes and maintains misc. paperwork for ED staff
- Schedules non emergent transport for patients
- Effectively facilitates communication for the unit with all hospital and clinic departments
- Answers the phone, informs nursing staff of needed tests, exams or significant problems with patients on the nursing unit
- Serves as liaison between nursing units and physicians, patients, their families and friends
- Initiates daily Level 1 Trauma and Medical alert system testing
- Sends and recieves items through the tube system
- Sets up and maintains equipment

Pay
The compensation range for this position is $16.91 per hour - $27.39 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
