About the role

The Unit Manager oversees all aspects of a clinical unit, ensuring that required staffing levels are met and that resident care and documentation comply with state and federal rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure required staffing levels are met for each shift.
  • Adjust staffing levels as needed and update the Federal required posted schedule.
  • Attend and participate in resident "At Risk" meetings, clinical review meetings, PPS meetings, QA and A meetings, and other committees as requested.
  • Review and document resident care, including medical records and 24-hour resident change reports.
  • Identify and address staff educational needs and collaborate with the Facility Educator.
  • Communicate with the appropriate department managers and participate in grievance resolutions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing corrective actions for problem areas.
  • Participate in continuing education programs and ensure staff compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Greet new admissions and assist with the admission process.
  • Maintain medication passes and treatment schedules.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary and report problem areas.
  • Develop and implement care plans for residents.
  • Ensure proper handling of resident abuse allegations and obtain Advance Directives/Code Status.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Assessment/Care Plan Coordinator in creating care plans.
  • Report and assist with investigations of resident abuse.
  • Participate in annual surveys and assist with any required plans of correction.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree preferred and/or graduate of an approved RN program.
    • Active RN license in assigned state(s) of employment.
    • Two years of LTC experience.
    • Previous supervisory experience.
    • Acute Care experience preferred.
