Unit Manager

About the role

CoreCivic is seeking a Unit Manager who is passionate about providing the highest quality care in an institutional, secure setting. The Unit Manager supervises staff assigned to the unit, oversees the unit program, and serves as a liaison throughout the facility by attending administrative meetings that connect the unit to overall facility operations. The role ensures the unit is fully staffed, manages manpower resources, monitors unit progress, and addresses any deficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff assigned to the unit and oversee the unit program.
• Perform liaison functions by attending a variety of administrative meetings that link the unit to total facility operations.
• Ensure the unit is fully staffed and oversee the allocation of manpower resources.
• Monitor and assess the unit’s progress, emphasizing remediation of deficiencies.
• Directly supervise staff in the performance of their duties and evaluate them according to facility and corporate policy.
• Participate in recruiting, hiring, and orienting assigned staff.
• Communicate responsibilities, authorities, and accountability to all direct subordinates so they are clearly defined and understood.
• Complete written evaluations for all directly supervised staff; review and approve evaluations completed by subordinate managers or supervisors in accordance with corporate guidelines.
• Routinely review subordinates’ payroll records and overtime usage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (required).
• Three years of experience in a criminal‑justice field, including at least two years in a supervisory capacity or two years as a CoreCivic Case Manager or Correctional Counselor (required).
• Additional qualifying education may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
• Experience on a “CoreCivic Way” unit management team, including time served as an acting Unit Manager, may substitute for the above qualifications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of correctional facility management principles, supervision, training, and pertinent corrections laws, rules, and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license (required).
• Minimum age of 18 years.

Pay

$68,108.18 per year
