2nd shift: 1:45 pm – 10:00 pm. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); 2-year Associate degree from an accredited program/institution or two or more years of college-level course work (preferred).
• First aid, CPR, and Emergency behavior intervention certifications.
• One year of related experience and/or training (required); two or more years of related experience and/or training (preferred).
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
• Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
• Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background check.
• Demonstrate the ability to:
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, and professionals.
  • Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
• Frequently traverse from one area of the physical plant to another and escort children from one location to another.

Responsibilities

• Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
• Monitor staffing assignments to ensure the staff-to-child ratio is maintained at all times.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel on other shifts to promote continuity of care.
• Model behaviors and social skills consistent with organization and program policies.
• Plan, organize, and supervise activities for children in accordance with the daily activity schedule.
• Take actions to promote positive interaction between children and encourage children to take responsibility in the daily routine of the program.
• Provide proper therapeutic crisis intervention when appropriate.
• Identify and report to zone supervisor all maintenance work/repair needs.
• Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions, and operations.
• Update and maintain records regarding each child’s clothing and personal items.
• Be responsible for scheduling air and ground transportation of children when needed.
• Monitor, coordinate, and delegate daily operations as needed throughout the shift.
• Maintain documentation required by this position and ensure documentation required by zone supervisors and direct care staff is completed in accordance with contractual, regulatory, and agency policies.
• Implement Compass Connections safety protocols, including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
• Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members, and complying with the required dress code.
• Supervise assigned direct care staff from the start of the assigned shift until relieved, without interruption from outside sources.
• Schedule appointments for children and follow up to ensure each child’s essential needs are met.
• Adhere to instructions provided by medical/clinical staff regarding each child and inform the zone supervisor of information impacting the basic health and well-being of the service population.
• Monitor and supervise children’s behavior on off-campus activities/outings, providing direction and redirection when needed to ensure safety.
• Document all serious incidents, daily progress, changes in menus, and activities completely, accurately, and in a timely manner in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
• Escort children in a safe manner to and from designated points as directed by the zone supervisor.
• Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by the program and federal partners.
