Unit Aide-Infectious Disease (C05B)

Contingent role, 8 to 16+ hours per week with variable shifts. Open to junior and senior high school students.

About the role

Assists in providing care and support to patients by performing various tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and stocking supplies.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness of the unit by regularly cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing toys, surfaces, and equipment per hospital policy.
• Stocks and restocks supplies in patient rooms and common areas as directed by supervisor, charge nurse, or manager.
• Runs errands for the unit, such as picking up supplies from Central Distribution or delivering/picking up other items as needed or delegated.
• Assists manager with various office tasks, including filing, sorting, and copying.
• Breaks down rooms after discharges.
• Checks hallways for wheelchairs, wagons, and O2 tanks and returns them to the proper storage area on the unit.
• Assists with special office projects as delegated.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally: Bend/twist, exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, computer skills, lifting/carrying 0–40 lbs, loud noises, problem-solving, pushing/pulling 0–100 lbs, sitting, squat/kneel.
• Frequently: Interpreting data, patient equipment, standing, walking.
• Continuously: Audible speech, hand use (grasping, gripping, turning), hearing acuity, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing (far/near).
