Union HVAC Apprentice
This role supports our Norcross, GA branch location, which serves customers throughout the greater Atlanta, GA area. All candidates must either be a Union Member or, if they have valid trade experience, obtain an approved authorization to work under our Bargaining Agreement from the UA National Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Siemens will coordinate with the union to ensure candidates operate under the Agreement for compensation, pension, health, and welfare. Payments will be made by Siemens to the Union on behalf of the successful candidate.
About the role
As an HVAC Apprentice, you will perform work under general supervision, conducting preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems. This role is governed by the local union agreement and focuses on delivering high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site interaction. You will work with pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment, performing tasks limited only by your capabilities as determined by the employer.
Responsibilities
- Change and service filters
- Oil and grease mechanical components
- Adjust or replace belts
- Clean cooling towers, coils, chiller evaporator, and condenser tubes
- Maintain other mechanical systems under contract with Siemens customer base
- Work with the field quoting team to provide parts information, equipment data, and labor hours for accurate repair quotes
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers through effective communication
- Use OEM software, technology, and hand-tools to diagnose and repair equipment following blueprints or engineering specifications
- Enforce safety standards and comply with the Siemens Safety Program, including recording safety audits
- Work as part of a team to deliver high standards of service, including flexibility for overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight stays
- Properly complete required project and service documentation
Requirements
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., smartphone, tablet)
- Valid driver’s license
- Verbal and written communication skills in English
- Universal EPA Certification
- This is a bargaining unit position; non-union candidates with valid trade experience may be assisted with local union referral
