Job Requirements
General Summary
Under limited supervision, provide primary implementation and support of large enterprise multi-clustered Cisco UC infrastructure environment. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation requires high-level technical evaluation, judgment and problem solving. Responsible for maintaining enterprise Cisco UC environment, applications and monitoring for alerts and anomalies. Responsible for managing and evaluating current systems and assisting in the planning of enterprise system projects through technical comparison and cost studies. Provide technical leadership and training to junior engineering staff.
Principal Responsibilities And Tasks
- Provides wide range of support for Enterprise Cisco Call Manager, UCCX, Unity, Jabber, VCS, WxCC, Webex calling, local gateways and all other telephony related systems.
- Provide technical expertise in configuration and troubleshooting of Enterprise Unified Communication system.
- Identify hardware requirements, dial plan strategies and migration strategies in compliance with existing change control and security processes.
- Maintains the enterprise network for optimal performance, including all ancillary network systems, i.e. call recording, SIP integrations.
- Acts as the primary interface with user and vendors for resolving problems.
- Supports SIP technology.
- Recognize and identify potential areas to develop or update policies and procedures, provides input and recommendations especially regarding future business expansion.
- Train team members on CUCM related technologies.
- Work experience: Bachelor's Degree in a health, science, or business field, or an equivalent level of professional experience required. At least 6 years designing, installing, and troubleshooting in Unified Communication environment. CCNA Collaboration (Preferred). SIP, H.323 and MGCP voice protocol, configuration experience is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Expert knowledge of Cisco UC communications design, configuration, technology concepts and methodologies.
- Expert knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting Voice Gateways/Gatekeepers.
- Must be able to effectively interact with the end users, engineers from different teams inside and outside of department, project managers, and management teams.
- Must be able to participate and represent the team in ongoing projects and meetings.
- Primary technical lead on various enterprise projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to advise and consult with user personnel and make formal presentations of project findings and recommendations.
- Expert in analysis and troubleshooting in large environment.
- Primary in providing limited leadership to junior technical staff and to be a subject matter expert for escalated support for all other ancillary teams and projects.
- Ability to create documentation, solutions and delegate work to other team members as needed.
Working Conditions
- Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and may be require work beyond normal tour of duty to complete projects, meet deadlines, or respond to emergencies.
- Work is performed in various environments within UMMS. These environments include, but are not limited to the following: a standard office environment, Data Center/closets environment, or Healthcare environment.
- Periodic traveling out of town with overnight stays to obtain required training, education, or certification may be required.
- Work may include regular travel to and from the various affiliated institutions within the Medical System.
- Work may be required in a Healthcare facility which the observance of “Universal Precautions” is mandated. Universal Precautions involves the wearing of protective clothing/equipment and the observance of safe work practice.
- There is potential for regular exposure to hazardous materials and hazards from use of tools and power equipment in the work environment.
- Work is high demand and fast paced.
- May require lifting, carrying supplies/equipment, pushing/pulling equipment in excess of 40 lbs.
- May require standing stooping, bending and walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Talking and hearing necessary for conversations with callers, visitors, patients, families and staff members.
