Underwriting Specialist OR Executive Underwriter - Cyber and Technology E&O
About the role
Zurich North America is seeking a Cyber and Technology E&O Underwriter for its Middle Market segment. This role is based in Atlanta but offers flexibility for a hybrid schedule. Reporting to the Head of Middle Markets, the Underwriter will focus on achieving key performance metrics, managing a portfolio of policies, and developing new business opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of Cyber, Technology E&O, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Manufacturers E&O, and Employed Lawyers policies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies and initiatives.
- Actively pursue new business opportunities and work to expand Zurich’s portfolio.
- Comply with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules.
- Monitor and assess emerging Cyber and Technology E&O trends and translate insights into disciplined risk selection, pricing, and portfolio strategy.
- Manage and optimize portfolio performance, balancing growth, profitability, and risk selection in alignment with underwriting strategy.
- Develop deep expertise in Zurich’s Cyber and Professional Liability products and confidently communicate coverage positions, changes, and underwriting appetite to brokers to support deal execution and relationship development.
- Understand client needs and priorities and work collaboratively with brokers to develop solutions that create value for customers while maintaining underwriting discipline.
Requirements
- Underwriting Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program with Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program with Associate Degree and 4+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of line/s of business and legal/regulatory guidelines AND Experience with Microsoft Office
- Executive Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office AND Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business AND Experience working in a team environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- CPCU advanced knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of line/s of business and legal/regulatory guidelines
- Experience with Microsoft Office

Pay and Benefits
The combined salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $165,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $75,000.00 - $125,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Executive Underwriter is $100,000.00 - $165,000.00, with Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility set at 30%.
