Underwriting Assistant I
About the role
As an Underwriting Assistant on our Core Renewal Team, you will be the first point of contact for brokers and agents, initiating the underwriting process for the MidAmerica region for existing business. This role offers exposure to all facets of underwriting and provides tools, resources, and professional development opportunities for career growth. This is a hybrid position based in our Dallas, TX office, with a schedule of 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite small renewals within an assigned Letter of Authority.
- Work closely with underwriters to handle policy requests and renewals.
- Follow underwriting guidelines, state regulations, and general procedures for assigned renewal policies.
- Maintain ownership of assigned tasks and ensure acceptable service standards when processing and assigning work.
- Provide agency support to assigned agents by answering general questions, providing endorsement and cancellation statuses, addressing billing inquiries, or directing to the correct contact.
Requirements
- Knowledge and skills to underwrite Workers’ Compensation, Property, General Liability, Auto, and Umbrella lines of business.
- Proven ability to work as a team player with an energetic personality.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet productivity deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn.
- Ability to provide information clearly and concisely with professionalism and empathy.
- Effective analytical skills to gather information, analyze facts, and draw conclusions.
- Capability to build and maintain effective relationships.
Pay
The expected salary range for this role is $13.88–$26.50 per hour. Salaries are based on factors such as candidate skills, experience, education, training, scope and responsibilities of the role, and market considerations.
