Key Responsibilities
- Collect, review, and analyze underwriting data such as loss runs, financial statements, vessel inventories, marina layouts, and contractor experience profiles.
- Serve as a contact for brokers and agents with servicing of accounts.
- Exercise discretion in structuring tailored coverage solutions, selecting appropriate endorsements, and developing pricing recommendations based on independent evaluation of risk characteristics and exposures.
- Prepare billing and issue policies, endorsements, and correspondence, applying independent judgment to ensure accuracy of terms, conditions, and coverage language relative to the bound risk.
- Maintain accurate records in underwriting and policy administration systems, ensuring data integrity for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Contribute subject-matter expertise and independent analysis to projects aimed at improving marine underwriting workflows, automation tools, and service delivery; may lead discrete project workstreams at the direction of the CUO.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial insurance, preferably with marine or specialty lines exposure.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to synthesize technical underwriting data.
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal collaboration and broker interaction.
- High level of integrity and the ability to exercise judgment with respect to matters of significance, including coverage determinations, risk evaluation, and broker communications, in a fast-paced environment with limited direct supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with underwriting platforms or policy systems.
- Insurance designations a plus but not required.
Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $28 - $29/hr and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
