Underwriting Assistant
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process insurance quotes, endorsements, policy changes, cancellations, and other policy servicing transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Respond promptly to agent, broker, and client inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels while providing exceptional customer service.
- Review and process new business submissions and supporting documentation in accordance with carrier guidelines and agency procedures.
- Aid underwriters and other business partners with the preparation and processing of binding documentation and policy issuance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting files, policy records, and supporting documentation within agency management systems.
- Collaborate with underwriters, carrier partners, and internal teams to support efficient policy processing and timely service delivery.
- Prioritize assigned workloads while meeting established productivity, quality, and service standards.
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with agents, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on responsiveness, professionalism, and relationship building.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Previous insurance, customer service, administrative support, or underwriting support experience preferred.
