About the role

AIG Trade Credit develops insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies globally, embodying AIG’s tradition of innovation, underwriting excellence, and bringing to market groundbreaking insurance solutions to corporates. As an Underwriter II, you will balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment with a risk mindset. You will take ownership for key outcomes within AIG’s Underwriting teams, which help find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, and Multinational Clients.

This role manages relationships and reviews transactions for key targeted Trade Credit brokers, markets, and industries. It includes front-facing external/internal marketing responsibilities as well as management of office underwriting duties and initiatives within your portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with brokers and clients to grow your portfolio of trade credit business.
  • Underwrite new and renewal insurance submissions and negotiate policy terms and conditions.
  • Analyze domestic and international corporate credits, evaluate financial information, and recommend or approve appropriate credit limits and terms.
  • Professionally maintain and service an existing portfolio of trade credit insurance business.
  • Market, sell, and present to brokers and insureds to increase submission flow.
  • Engage in various underwriting and marketing projects to improve overall company results.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical direction to fellow Underwriters to contribute to group revenue targets and meet internal operations/audit directives.
  • Meet operating and audit guidelines and goals set by senior management.
  • Participate in and complete special projects as required by the profit center.
  • Collaborate with AIG distribution colleagues in identifying and closing trade credit opportunities.
  • Some travel required.

Requirements

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in an underwriting capacity is preferred.
  • Experience in trade credit, finance, or banking preferred.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Cap IQ, and Salesforce.
  • Strong commercial development skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance required; MBA preferable.
  • Second language proficiency valued.

Qualified candidates should have a background in credit or financial analysis and strong commercial development skills.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $65,000–$85,000. The position is also eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will depend on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
