Responsibilities

  • Obtains loan request information from commercial lender or borrower to analyze credit information, financial statements and other related information pertaining to the loan.
  • Researches background documentation and reviews personal and business financial statements and tax returns. Analyzes financial information and prepares the preliminary analysis for the lender.
  • Requests and obtains financial statements on existing borrowers.
  • Reviews and prepares written analysis, spreadsheets, reports, summaries and opinions. Prepares or assists in the preparation of loan memorandum for presentation to lenders and/or loan committees.
  • Reviews loan files to ensure the completeness of the file and that all collateral has been secured properly.
  • Assists lenders with calls on past-due loans as assigned by senior management with the bank’s loan portfolio.
  • Updates collateral values, as needed on delinquent loans.
  • Follows all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conducts daily operation in accordance with the laws, regulation, policies, procedure, and expectations of the Bank. Compliance will be recognized as part of the period performance review; noncompliance may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Qualifications

  • Requires 5+ years’ experience in commercial loan credit underwriting, financial analysis, and credit approval experience.
  • Requires credit approval experience in comparable commercial lending environment requiring the exercise of credit judgement.
  • Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional credit analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit philosophy and policies, loan documentation, bankruptcy and related legal issues.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, graduate degree in business preferred. Completion of advanced courses in finance, accounting, and credit either through a bank sponsored training program or college course work.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of personal/business financial statements and tax returns.
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude with a working knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
