About the role
The successful candidates will serve in the Statistics and Psychology Departments within the College of Science. The advisor will play a vital role in supporting student success through comprehensive academic guidance and student-centered engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one advising
- Maintain clear, consistent, and accurate communication with students
- Ensure the confidential and precise management of student records
- Interpret and communicate university and college policies and procedures
- Engage in electronic communication with students
- Support students who are not making satisfactory academic progress by identifying challenges and developing targeted remediation plans
- Participate in cross-training to support other undergraduate programs within the College of Science
- Contribute to First-Year Experience courses
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and advising experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet established deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace equivalents (Docs, Sheets, Gmail)
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, university, and departmental guidelines
- Prominent ability to effectively engage with diverse populations, including students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and prospective students and their families
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and advising experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in student development, counseling, education, or a related field
- Experience working within an academic unit, including roles in academic advising, student services, recruitment, and/or curriculum processes
Skills
The ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong academic advising expertise or ability and a student-centered approach, with the ability to guide students effectively in course selection, degree planning, and understanding university policies.
Benefits
Salary begins at $53,000 and is commensurate with relevant experience.
