About the Role
Caprae Capital Partners offers a high-intensity Buyside Internship designed as a training ground for future dealmakers. Interns learn M&A fundamentals through live conversations, real negotiation psychology, and rapid exposure to deal structuring—prioritizing the human side of M&A where deals are won.
Starting with outbound calls, interns develop skills in communicating with founders, reading motivations, overcoming objections, and extracting deal-relevant information. Within as little as four weeks, interns may transition to supporting real deals, understanding valuation logic, structure mechanics, and the sequence of ETA transactions.
Responsibilities
- Call business owners and executives daily to navigate objections, gather context, and understand founder psychology.
- Learn how buyers and sellers negotiate outside of textbooks and practice controlled, professional persuasion.
- Develop the ability to keep conversations structured and outcome-oriented.
- Support structuring deals in the lower-middle-market M&A space by evaluating seller motivations vs. buyer constraints, deal readiness, and fit.
- Learn the mechanics of earnouts, seller financing, rollover equity, reps & warranties, and how structures adjust dynamically.
- Support live buyer–seller interactions by preparing call notes, next steps, and negotiation plans.
- Observe how Caprae navigates valuation gaps, structure negotiations, and the "psychological arc" of a deal.
Highlights
- 100% real-world communication and deal execution with a focus on negotiation psychology from day one.
- Paid hourly with rapid exposure to real transaction mechanics.
- Opportunities to collaborate with the deal team and research team for interns who demonstrate strong KPIs after one month.
- Interns who join the deal team and manage deal flow may earn up to 20% of Caprae’s success fee (several interns have accumulated a potential bonus pool of $50K+).
- Strong preference to hire full-time team members from the internship program; in 2025, three interns were converted to full-time roles, with plans to onboard significantly more in 2026.
Qualifications
- Strong communicators and fast learners.
- Students or individuals who want responsibility early and prefer learning by doing over passive observation.
- Those who want to learn how deals *really* happen, not just academically.
- Individuals who thrive in structured, dynamic conversations over spreadsheet-heavy analysis.
- Must be fluent in English.
