Security Officer Role
Static Security Officers are stationed at various sites to provide friendly customer service and protect client property and customers. They are either Level 1, 2, or 3 Uniformed Security Officers who use their physical presence to act as a visible deterrent to crime.
Responsibilities
- Train in the use of non-lethal and lethal Use of Force depending on their security level and weapons certifications.
- Provide both physical security and roving foot patrols to regularly check client property and deter and report crimes.
- Lawfully detain and arrest persons who commit crimes on client property and work with local law enforcement.
- Submit Daily Activity Reports, weekly Timesheets, and Incident Reports as necessary.
- Report to either the SSO Site Supervisor or Operations Manager, and may receive field training from a qualified FTO or FSO.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Clean background with no criminal convictions.
- Physical strength and fitness.
- Clean cut appearance and grooming standards required.
- Strict moral and ethical code of integrity and honesty.
- Minimum one year prior experience as a Security Guard (may be waived on a case-bycase basis for Unarmed Officers).
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to operate security systems and emergency equipment.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work alone with limited supervision as well as to be a team player.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and to respect a Chain of Command.
- Ability to solve problems as they arise.
- Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations and to use Deescalation techniques.
- Good understanding of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
- Ability to submit daily written reports.
- Outstanding surveillance and observation skills.
- Trained in First Aid/BLS and self-defense (training is also provided).
- Trained in legal Use of Force (training is also provided).
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good time-management skills.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills.
